Darkwood

Darkwood (mmorpg:darkwood) is the rare biome from patch 1.2.1a. It is not a recolor of the entire Dark Forest: large cold groves (about 400–560 blocks) sit on forest, taiga, plains and swamp. Chunks already generated do not change.

• Trunk and canopy are gray and dull, never bright decorative green.
• Logs need an iron axe or better and take about 2.5× as long as normal wood.
• 1 log = 2 Darkwood planks.
• Reinforced handle: 2 planks + 2 iron nuggets. Scythes craft on that handle.
• Vanilla wolves ×4, peaceful animals ×8.
• Main spawn for the direwolf.

The biome is both a resource pocket and a danger zone: after day 100 packs howl more often.
